I've always been interested in the Edmund Fitzgerald. If you ever find yourself in Duluth, MN (which is actually a great little city), you can tour a similar ore carrier called the William A. Irvin: http://www.decc.org/omnimax-irvin/index.html
There's also a really good Edmund Fitzgerald exhibit in the adjacent Lake Superior Marine Museum: http://www.lsmma.com/
