we have used our rule of law to create a rule of man

People. How on Trump's green earth can this be an actual law in our actual country?

"Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate."

Amazing.

We deserve a fair amount of the shit-storm we are enduring. No person should have this kind of unilateral power.

I only hope that it's not too late to do something about the incredible level of legislative deference to the executive built into our current system BY THE FREAKING LEGISLATURE.

If you think that is crazy, try reading the Obamacare law.

I am not sure why that is crazy. Note that it is talking about people that are NOT US citizens (aliens). Natrually we would give the executive broad latitude to deal with foreign persons. The problem lies in giving similar powers over US citizens, as does the Defense Authorization acts of 2012 to present. Now that is crazy. Authority over aliens? Not so much

On the surface, this would seem to be a matter of no concern to US citizens, since the law purports to restrict only aliens. But this is far from the case. It allows the president to restrict citizens from communicating, consulting, trading and generally associating with aliens who may be of benefit to them on US soil. I had thought we had a right of association.
