Thank you Donald Trump

People, I believe that Donald Trump is teaching many of us a valuable lesson. He's performing an important public service, and I for one am grateful.

I'm one of those guys who thought, hey we really don't need affirmative action anymore, women are treated with respect and dignity now, facism is a relic of a bygone age.

But Trump is showing me/us that a large chunk of US adults (what like 25-30% or so?) are racist, sexist, xenophobic, economically illiterate morons.

I guess even in a red state like Oklahoma, living in a University town helps to insulate you from the "common man" (thank god).

But Trump's campaign has made it clear to me that we still have serious human rights / equality / logical reasoning issues in our country.

So I say to all you SJWs out there, live long and prosper. You have a lot of work left to do.

And to my libertarian friends I say, continued affirmative action and gender equity programs are needed and important.

We still have a very long way to go in this country. Trump is showing me/us just how far.

As we say in Wisconsin, "This is what Democracy looks like!!!"

I don't think you're reading this correctly. I've been a life-long Democrat and if anything come down on the far left (voted Nader twice, etc). But watching the behavior of Obama and H Clinton, one realizes that most of their real policies (what they do, rather than what they say) are not terribly different than Trump's. They may actually be to his right.

Trump is a blowhard and an opportunist, but I very much doubt that he will make any real adverse social policy changes. I trust him far more than I trust SJWs.

I think your numbers are reasonably accurate (and note that even the minority-hating whites exist in both parties, at least if you take things like answering that the Confederacy should have won to polls. Granted, it's a million times better when the racist voters are voting for platforms based on other reasons, and Oklahoma's surfeit of conservative registered Dems is one reason why Trump did poorly there-- and Bernie did well, as a lot of Dems who said that they wanted more conservative policies than Obama voted Bernie as an anti-Administration message.)

However, I think that's also why "SJWs" are foolish to throw out conceptions of free speech, to rejoice in shutting down speakers that they don't like, to remove due process protections for accusations of crimes that they particularly dislike. Those tactics seem plausible the more you can say that your opponents are a tiny minority, The larger that group is, however, the more likely it is to backfire.

This post is terrible and exemplifies the type of thinking I would expect from a Trump supporter. I lacks any kind of empathy or thought.

There is a portion of white America that America is failing. And even worse for this group, they are lumped in and treated as though they are part of the same group that America has given everything to.

If you are like me, a white male, college educated and born in the United States, you were born on third base. The world is your oyster, you have every advantage you could dream of.

If you are a poor white male born to a single mother in rural Pennsylvania, your probability of success is not quite as bright. The manufacturing jobs you could support a family with our gone. Your future looks worse than someone of your race and gender 30 years ago. You might feel hopeless. At the same time, you keep hearing about your privilege and advantage in this world, but you see no evidence of it. Quickly, your hopelessness quickly turns to anger.

Trump has harnessed this anger. He is vile and disgusting, appealing to our most base instincts. His supporters seem to manifest the worst parts of our society.

That said vilifying these people doesn't help anyone. Understanding and hoping to help them is far more likely to help than condemning them. I am pretty sure these people are used to being condemned.

Good comment, John Thacker.

So everyone who supports Trump is the equivalent of a KKK member? Are there not other reasons for supporting a politician, perhaps in spite of his overt racist and xenophobic rhetoric? Don't forget, national politics isn't efficient like a grocery store... they're all bundled "goods."

Your disdain for rural flyover country is just pompous. Get over yourself.

I thank Donald Trump for showing us that what Angus really wants is more government in our lives.

Hey Angus,
Are you sure about your conclusion? In my opinion it only shows that SJW might be part of the problem rather than the solution. If force is the only option to change people's views on racism and sexism then we have an unsolvable problem.

I am even waging that trump is a backlash due to too much social pressure. I fear that many who rightfully found themselves not heard on many soft issues have turned to a hard core issue candidate for solutions. Instead of just opposing overbearing women first policies, they are supporting a women to the hearth kind of guy.

So I believe that more SJW will only make everything worse.

Lol it took Trump to show you that? Try the Obama election where 12%+ of the population only voted for him solely because he was black. Racism alive and well and it ain't white.
