You Gotta Like the Honesty.....

Planning a trip to Munich, with the EYMunger.

The new townhall in Munich is the "Rathaus." i had not known this, but "Rathaus" is in fact the generic name for town hall.

I propose that the U.S. change the name of ALL buildings that house city councils to "The Rat House." It's descriptively accurate, and adds a lot of charm.

I like your blog. It´s really funny to read about your German adventures! :-)

If you go to Munich visit Deutsches Museum (http://www.deutsches-museum.de/) and of course Hofbräuhaus (http://www.hofbraeuhaus.de/)!

If you like Rats., Tommy the Englishman suggests the one in Vienna. In the summer they have huge big screen TVs where classical concerts are broadcast outside. Good beer and pretzel stands nearby also.!

Mungo: the Haus der Kunst is having a Gerhard Richter show until May 17th. Highly recommended. Sadly for you two, Lenbachhaus is closed for re-modelling, but maybe their collection is on display somewhere else? Bottom line: Munich has GREAT art Museums.

Here's a highly recommended side trip from Munich--Andechs monastery and brewery. It is on a pleasant little mountain just out of Munich and may have the best wheat beer in the world, at least that was my take when visiting a few years ago. Also hearty food. It's a short drive out of the city; apparently you can also get there via public transit:

Definitely stop by the BMW factory. I don't care much about cars as long as they turn on when I turn the key, but the factory is really gorgeous and I enjoyed meandering around the building for a good hour or two.
