I would like to share with you the idea of celebrating Jesus' birthday like you celebrate any living loved-one. What do you do to celebrate a family member? Do the same thing so that children can see that Jesus lives on the inside of us in our hearts. Have a cake, sing "Happy Birthday to Jesus", children can bring gifts that will be given to the least of these (poor and/or sick children), and read the bible scripture about the birth of Jesus. Point out that three gifts was mentioned and tell the kids why they don't need to do a list of gifts that they want Santa to bring to them. Ask them how would they feel if on their birthday everyone brought a gift for someone else and not him/her who is the real guest of honor.
