Surely another version of the "if you can get the milk for free, why buy the cow?" argument, though dressed up in ways to less offend, and less sound like something coming from a conservative.

Women's economic rise means they "need" men less than ever. As men perceive this and react to cues that their potential female mate will forever be leading an active and autonomous public life of earning and work socializing this may alter his threshold for desiring commitment lessens. I would think men might like to feel needed. Absent that, might a man be left with reduced incentive to grow up?
