AI & Sheedy: together again for the very first time

Wow. Pistons trade Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess to Denver for AI. Incredible. Having Rasheed Wallace and Iverson on the same team is combustible. They can be kind of a cussin', fussin' NBA version of Butch and Sundance. It could be like putting on Waiting for Godot with a cast of Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock. In other words it could be very, very fun. Plus the Pistons are clearing a ton of cap room. Iverson is getting 20 million but is in the last year of his contract, while Billups has 3 years at 36 million left on his. Could Joe Dumars really be thinking LeBron?

This stunned me, and I thought of you within a milli-second of hearing about it.

No LeBron.

Hamilton extended for three more years & well past his prime. Bottom line suggests the Pistons are 14 wins worse from this trade and the Nuggets are 9 wins better. Cleveland and Indiana are the big winners for gains in playoff odds.

Perhaps I'm off on the cap calculation. Intriguing for sure.

In any case, this clearly hurts the Pistons for the next 2 years, as they'll be fighting for a playoff spot and lucky to see May.

Overall, this seems to be a decent risk for Dumars personally, as landing LeBron is a home run shot while swinging & missing means he's out of Detroit but sure to land another gig.
