Yikes! I married a free-market nut

Mrs. Angus goes full libertarian in her interview with the American Institute for Economic Research.

Here's one bit to whet your appetites:

Q: What’s the most important economic concept for the average person to understand?
A: Just because the market isn’t doing a great job at something doesn’t mean the government can do it better.

Amen, sweetheart, amen.

However, it is also true that just because the government wouldn't do a great job at something doesn't mean the market can do it better.

Dirty Davey, thank you for articulating the signature philosophy of our day and age: "just because the government wouldn't do a great job at something doesn't mean the market can do it better."

Of course, just because you think it's not doing a great job, DD, doesn't mean it isn't.

Also, if you have to force people to do something under force of imprisonment, then pretty much by definition, the government will not do a better job. The problem for big government types is that if markets fail or don't do a good job, despite having the best incentives, introducing government, who have zero incentive to get things right or wrong, are pretty much guaranteed to do a worse job.

Congratulations, Angus! I married a libertarian, too. It's a hoot.
