I've always been interested in the Edmund Fitzgerald. If you ever find yourself in Duluth, MN (which is actually a great little city), you can tour a similar ore carrier called the William A. Irvin:

There's also a really good Edmund Fitzgerald exhibit in the adjacent Lake Superior Marine Museum:

At the bottom of that page, there's a movie with audio from the last radio conversations before it sank. Pretty spooky.
