Griffin or Krugman: You make the call

People, here's my situation.

Tomorrow at OU, Paul Krugman is speaking. There's an "informal" meeting with econ students and faculty, then a dinner and a speech.

I have tickets.

Tomorrow at the OKC Arena at about the same time, Blake Griffin and the LA Clippers will be playing the Thunder.

I have tickets.

Due to the great stagnation, we have no kind of transporter technology that can solve my problem.

I gotta pick.

Que hago?

Have you ever seen one or the other live? I would go for the one you haven't seen or the one you expect to not see again.

Or; simply ask yourself how much you would pay to see Griffin and how much you'd pay to see Krugman.

Or assume Krugman will ramble on about everything you can read on his blog and that Griffin will be a human highlight reel and go the game.

Which tickets can you sell for more?

Which one is more likely to answer your questions or respond to constructive criticism? Maybe Griffin it is.

Why in God's name would any sentient being willingly subject himself to Paul Krugman? Did you lose a bet or something?

I would probably pay to not have to sit through Paul Krugman at this point.

Well since you already know with certainly the nature of any conversation with PK (spend, borrow, spend, Republicans are evil....), but don't know the outcome of the game, go to the game!

How are you even debating this? Griffin/Thunder.

Both will raise your blood pressure but for very different reasons. Maximize happiness. Or minimize Regret. How will you feel if you miss the dunk of the decade? That could happen. Maybe Krugman would admit he has been wrong all along. That seems unlikely.

Isn't it tempting to take advantage of the opportunity to embarrass Krugman in front of your students?

Game. Krugman isn't going to say anything you haven't heard and he isn't going to address any real concerns nor respond to anything that may result in his changing his mind.

The game, though. That will be fun.

Game. Besides Krugman's at OU.

Go Pokes.

Give your PK tickets to Robert Murphy (I'm sure he can fly in on short notice), go see the game... but make sure someone's videotaping the ambush.

can PK jump over a car??

I have to agree with the Thunder lovers. I'd pay $25 to avoid seeing P-Kroog shill for the D's. And I get to avoid it every night, for free!

Will PK actually shill for the D's in front of a bunch of economists? I mean no way he could get away with it.

Without doubt, the game. End the evening on some sort of positive note. No chance of that happening after listening to Krugman, none.

Who's Paul Krugman?

(yes, that's meant to be I-RON-EE)

If you go see Kroog, that will enhance his reputation and, indirectly, bring harm to the poor children of both South Carolina and South Korea. Don't be cruel; go to the game.

Griffin or Krugman?

Why would you want to see some overpaid neanderthal preening for the cameras and acting like his little games are of any importance to our country when you can see a good basketball game instead?
