This is garbage. You can watch Olbermann, or not watch him. But why in the world should he be prevented from making small, fully disclosed contributions well within the law? MSNBC donates millions of dollars in free air time to shill for Dems, just as Fox donates tens of millions of dollars in free air time for Repubs.
As Angus and I might have said in college....why can't we just all get a baung?

Atrios points out that Pat Buchanan draws a paycheck from MSNBC despite being on the record for many partisan donatinos.
Was this as a result of a breach of contract? If so, that is entirely different.
I think that MSNBC action of sanctioning KO as 100 times more reputation harming than KO's reasonable actions with a man of his conviction. Why his contract requires him to say pretty please first is beyond me.
I don't understand how Olberman is "prevented from making small, fully disclosed contributions well within the law." He could, he did, and he still can. He just can't do that and work for MSNBC. Their rules and/or seemingly capricious behavior might be dumb from our POV, especially when every cubic foot per minute of hot air expelled by that guy amounted to massive, fully, completely, utterly disclosed donations. But, you know what? That's showbiz, baby.
@ Eric
Except that there are others who work for MSNBC who make donations and have not been so disciplined. Rules don't work if they aren't applied equally.
Fair enough.
But I stand by my "that's showbiz baby!"
