Mango Man

For all my earnest friends who work for NGOs: Good intentions are not enough.

I think the russian spammer makes a good point. But why don't the farmers, who are capable of knowing their self-interest, use the crates if it will double what they sell? Is the crate worth more in other uses than doubling their mango sale?

Mungo, you commented:
"I just listened to this episode and I couldn't figure out why Mr. Mango just didn't say to his farmers, "Here is a crate. I will not buy mangoes from you that are not in crates. Period.""

But I think that Mr Mango ISN'T buying the messed up mangoes. I don't see why he would. The comments on the NPR page are outrageously off topic, hence the belated post here.
