With all due apologies to NWA, I have been yelling this around the house most of the day and decided to get it off my chest.
The pontiff, setting off to Cameroon, says that rather than helping fight AIDS, condom use actually "increases the problem".
What else can you say to such mind boggling arrogance and stupidity?

It's when I read things like this that I remember why I keep clicking back to read this blog.
:)
Here's what the article says:
"You can't resolve it with the distribution of condoms," the pope told reporters aboard the Alitalia plane heading to Yaounde. "On the contrary, it increases the problem."
The pope said a responsible and moral attitude toward sex would help fight the disease, as he answered questions submitted in advance by reporters traveling on the plane. His response was presumably also prepared in advance.
So a responsible and moral attitude toward sex won't help. That's your argument?
Young virgin boys are much safer than condoms.
Donald: Cameroon has an HIV prevelance among adults of 5% and condoms are about 99% effective at stopping transmission. On the other hand, there are 45000 children in Cameroon with HIV with a population (of children) of about 7 million. So sex with young virgin boys (in Cameroon) is about ten times riskier than sex using condoms with a random adult.
Glad I was never a priest in Cameroon!
Sure, Daniel, a "responsible and moral attitude toward sex" (and toward all other aspects of life) is a certain cure for whatever "the problem" might be.
Just saying that, however, is vacuous. You have to actually DO something to get people to have a responsible and moral attitude.
ok so how about everybody being a little less smug and start reading a bit before we start trying to sound smart and sarcastic?
