minor point:
Actually, Luther didn't compose the little rhyme. He was referring to the sales jingle of Dominican Joh. Tetzel's traveling circus:
"Sobald das Geld im Koffer klingt, die Seele aus dem Fegfeuer springt."
The church has not had such effective PR expertise since.
