Holyfield-Foreman II

Not content with having defeated George Foreman in the squared circle, Evander Holyfield is now taking aim at George's current livelihood, viz. pitching crappy grills.

Yes Evander is introducing the "Evander Holyfield Real Deal Grill". Amazing, no?

At least in name, it doesn't compare to Foreman's "Lean Mean Grilling Machine" which, like, rhymes!!

I wonder if all of Evander's children and named "Evander"?

Angus - as an apparent boxing and sports aficionado, what are your views on the recent resurgence of white boxers in the sport? I was pondering this Saturday night after Kelly Pavlik stunned Jermain Taylor in AC. That makes three white champs all fighting on HBO this year - one in a HUGE money fight (Ricky Hatton) with Floyd Mayweather. I'd be interested in what you and Mungowitz think of this. I always thought boxing was a poor man's sport, so from an economists point of view what gives with this shift?

Fundman: As my comments will soon show, I am not a boxing expert. my favorite fighting to watch is by far muay thai. I was unaware of the whitey resurgence in the sweet science. I note that Pavlik is from Youngstown (and likely to be poor) while Hatton is from Blighty (ditto).

Hatton-Mayweather can't be a huge money fight compared to a big heavyweight bout, can it?

Hatton-Mayweather payout is tough to predict until AFTER the fight because it's all sold PPV. However Mayweather-De La Hoya was the richest fight in the history of the sport. Substitute white guy for Latino guy and the results could be interesting......

Re: the poor white question - whites on average are richer now than they were 25-30 years ago when folks were clammering for the "Great White Hope." I guess my abstract question is why now? Are these just all outliers?
